We are excited to feature the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC) as part of our “Meet Our Partners” campaign. IREC, a public research center under the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya, has been a beacon of energy innovation since 2008.
In the CleanHyPro project, IREC is playing a pivotal role in the development and validation of advanced solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) technologies. Their responsibilities include designing and upgrading two pilot lines dedicated to the fabrication of complete SOEC cells. This involves the creation of innovative materials, the use of advanced deposition techniques, and the integration of 3D printing to boost the performance and scalability of SOEC technology.
Meet the Team:
- Albert Tarancón: Nanoionics & Fuel Cells Group Leader
- Alex Morata: Senior Scientist
- Marc Torrell: Senior Scientist
- Lucile Bernadet: Research Scientist
- Antonio Maria: Tenure-track Researcher
At IREC, theirdedicated team of researchers is committed to pushing the boundaries of energy technology and contributing significantly to the CLEANHYPRO project. Here is what they have to say about their participation in CLEANHYPRO:
“We’re proud to be part of Europe’s largest water electrolysis project, CLEANHYPRO. Our focus on advancing SOEC technology is crucial for enhancing green hydrogen production and contributing to a sustainable future. We look forward to collaborating with our CLEANHYPRO partners and showcasing our innovative approaches to SOEC cell fabrication!”
