CLEANHYPRO is launching its 2nd Wave Open Call, inviting innovative SMEs and industry players to test and validate new materials, components and solutions for clean electrolysis technologies, and to join the project efforts in scaling them up.
As Europe accelerate its transition towards climate neutrality, renewable hydrogen is expected to play an increasingly important role in decarbonising sectors where direct electrification is difficult. Through initiatives such as REPowerEU, the EU has underlined the need to speed up the development and deployment of efficient, competitive hydrogen technologies. However, turning promising technologies into industrial-scale solutions requires more than innovation alone. Parallel efforts should be made to assess the results of these innovation tests under relevant conditions before moving them closer to market. And this is where CLEANHYPRO comes in.
Operating as an Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB), CLEANHYPRO connects companies with specialised facilities, technical expertise and business support to help them overcome the gap between technological development and industrial development. Through its 2nd Wave Open Call, CLEANHYPRO is now offering companies across the electrolysis and clean hydrogen value chain the opportunity to access this ecosystem and accelerate the development of their technologies.
What are we looking for?
CLEANHYPRO will select at least 10 Democases supporting projects at different stages of technological maturity. This includes Research and Innovation Actions at TRL 4-5, focused on validating and demonstrating new concepts, as well as Innovation Actions at TRL 6-7, aimed at prototyping, market validation and scale-up.
Selected projects can run for up to six months and should make use of the facilities and services available through CLEANHYPRO to advance their technologies.
Why apply?
Selected applicants will be able to tap into CLEANHYPRO’s network of facilities, expertise and services, working with leading European research and technology organisations such as CEA, Fraunhofer, IREC, TECNALIA, TNO, VSParticle, and VTT. Through this close collaboration, applicants can address specific technological challenges, validate their solutions, and ultimately strengthen their readiness for the next stage of development.
The CLEANHYPRO Open Call provides a pathway to test, demonstrate and accelerate innovations from applicants, whether they are working on an emerging concept that needs validation or a more mature technology that needs guidance on how to approach market deployment.
Ready to apply?
For those interested in applying, the official Guidelines for Applicants provide all the information needed to prepare and submit a proposal. There you will find the complete eligibility conditions, evaluation criteria and all the information you need to prepare and submit your proposal.
