Bridging Innovation and Industry: CLEANHYPRO M30 Consortium Meeting in Barcelona

We just finished a big two-day meeting in sunny Barcelona! Our team came together at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia to discuss our progress in making green hydrogen easier and cheaper to produce.

What We Did:

We are now halfway through our journey, and things are moving fast. Bart Goes from Tecnalia opened the meeting with an overview showing that we are officially at the midpoint of our timeline.

Here is a deeper look at what we’ve been working on:

  • Real-World Testing is Finished: We successfully finished our first big tests, known as “showcases”.

  • Success in Manufacturing: Anna Ramuni from De Nora showed how we’ve moved to automated spraying, while Bjorn Ahrendt and the TNO team demonstrated success with innovative catalyst layers.

  • Cutting-Edge Materials: Florian Baur from Enapter and Minna Toivola from Elcogen shared how they are testing the durability and conductivity of new materials to make hydrogen machines last longer.

  • A New Quality Label: Pablo Cortiguera Ruiz from Bureau Veritas explained our work on a special “Quality Label”. This acts like a seal of approval to ensure European hydrogen technology is safe and reliable.

  • Helping Small Businesses: Joana Moreira-Silva from PNO Portugal shared updates on our “Open Calls”. This is where we select exciting small companies to use our high-tech labs.

  • Thinking Long-Term: Ahmed ElKassas from STAM and Josephine Steck from CEA are looking at how our labs can stay sustainable and eco-friendly as the market changes.

  • Connecting with the Public: Michalis Vasilakis from F6S, along with Taira Colah and Maria José Durão from PNO, shared how our message is reaching thousands of people online.

Visiting the Lab:

One of the best parts was visiting the labs at IREC, guided by Marc Torrell. We saw how ceramic materials and fuel cells are made at an industrial level. Seeing the technology in person reminds us why this work matters for the planet.

Meetings like this are important because they let us solve problems together. We left Barcelona feeling excited and ready for the next steps!
