Large scale hydrogen production: The importance of the small scale
The production of hydrogen (and oxygen) via water electrolysis is a non-spontaneous process. This means that an external source of energy is needed to create a potential difference between the electrodes and drive the electrons flow. Theoretically, the minimum potential difference needed between the electrodes is ΔE = 1,23 V at standard conditions. However, the […]
EURESFO 2024 Recap: Advancing Urban Resilience

We are excited to feature the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research (IREC) as part of our “Meet Our Partners” campaign. IREC, a public research center under the Department of Climate Action, Food and Rural Agenda of the Generalitat de Catalunya, has been a beacon of energy innovation since 2008.
Participate in the CLEANHYPRO Stakeholder Survey!
CLEANHYPRO has just launched a survey targeting stakeholders in the manufacturing of electrolyzers for clean hydrogen production. This survey provides an overview of the Service Catalogue that will be offered by the CLEANHYPRO Open Innovation Test Bed (OITB). Our goal is to gather feedback and identify the specific needs of manufacturers to ensure our services align with
the stakeholders’ requirements.
Alkaline water electrolysis: enabling large-scale production of green hydrogen
Decarbonization is an essential and urgent task to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. In fact, moving societies from the use of coal and other fossil fuels to alternative energy sources to power industries, transportation, and the hard-to-abate sectors is one of the challenges of our time. To execute the energy transition fully, we need new and innovative solutions, as well as a shift in personal behaviors, and legislative changes.
Introducing Our Consortium Partner: TNO
We are thrilled to highlight one of our esteemed partners in the CLEANHYPRO project, TNO (Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research). TNO stands out as one of the leading applied research institutes in the field of hydrogen, with more than 15 research departments across 5 units collaboratively working on innovations throughout the hydrogen value chain. From production to infrastructure, storage, and final applications, TNO is at the forefront of hydrogen research and development.
Revolutionising PEM Electrolysers – Reducing Iridium Loadings by 10 Times Using VSPARTICLE’s Nanoprinting Technology
Under the CLEANHYPRO project, VSParticle is enhancing its pilot production line to manufacture catalyst layers composed of iridium nanoparticles, a critical component in the electrolyser stack. Concurrently, VSParticle is collaborating with consortium partners to assess the performance of these catalyst layers in an industrial setting, demonstrating their effectiveness and potential for widespread use.
